SPRING 2012 Sale:
March 29, 30, 31
Pittsboro, NC (February 8, 2012)—The Spring Book Sale of the
Friends of the Chatham Community Library (FOTCCL) will be held
on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 29 to 31, at the
library's new facility on the campus of Central Carolina
Community College here.
The specific hours of the sale are Thursday, March 29, from 9
a.m. till 7 p.m.; Friday, March 30, from 9 a.m. till 7 p.m.; and
Saturday, March 31, from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m. Admission is free,
and purchases may be made by cash or check (no credit cards).
On Thursday, the first day of the sale, most hardcover books are
$3; trade paperbacks are $2; and small paperbacks are 50˘. Sales
of $200 or more earn a 20% discount, but only on Thursday. On
Friday, all books and materials are half price, and on Saturday
anyone can fill a grocery bag of books for $5.
More than 15,000 books and audio and video materials will be
available for purchase, all organized by category. All of the
materials, which were donated, are in good to excellent
condition, and the FOTCCL has received works on World War II,
Egypt, billiards, battleships, woodworking and railroads, to
name just a few. The sale is also particularly strong in
mysteries, history, fiction, trade paperbacks, cookbooks and
children's books.
A popular feature of the Friends sale is the "Collectors'
Corner," which offers rare and special books for $15 and up.
These books generally are priced at no more than a quarter to a
half of their lowest online value. A listing of these books can
be found on the Website of the Friends of the Chatham Community
Library (see below).
All proceeds from the book sale are used to benefit the Library:
for underwriting programs; purchasing needed books, materials
and equipment; and improving technology. All remaining materials
are passed along to other local non-profit organizations (such
as the PTA Thrift Stores) for them to sell.
On Thursday and Friday, coffee and pastries will be available
for purchase from 8:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at The Natural Chef
Café of the Culinary Arts program in the adjacent Technology
Center. Lunch will also be served both days (by reservation)
from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. For details, phone (919)
545-8076.
The book sale will be held in the Holmes Family Meeting Room,
and the Library is just off NC Highway 87 in Pittsboro, about a
half mile north of US Highway 64 (West Street).
