Author Georgeann Eubanks to Speak May 3
At Annual Meeting of Friends of the
Library
Author
Georgeann Eubanks will be the guest speaker at the annual meeting of
the Friends of the Chatham Community Library on May 3.
Eubanks’ most recent book, “Literary Trails of the North Carolina
Piedmont,” is the second in a series of regional guides that
bring the state's rich literary history to life for travelers and
residents. Eighteen tours direct readers to sites which more than
200 Tar Heel authors have explored in their fiction, poetry, plays
and creative non-fiction.
The annual meeting of the Friends will be held on Thursday, May 3,
at 7 p.m. in the Holmes Family Room of the Chatham Community
Library. Light refreshments will be served after the presentation
and brief meeting, which includes the election of new officers.
Georgeann Eubanks is a writer, teacher and consultant to non-profit
groups across the country. She is also director of the Table Rock
Writers Workshop, was a founder of the North Carolina Writers
Network and is past chair of the North Carolina Humanities Council.
Each
of the 18 tours in her “Literary Trails” includes a list of literary
figures associated with the area; a brief historical and cultural
context; descriptions of highlighted sites; and passages from the
writings of people past and present who lived there. And each tour
concludes with suggestions for related places of interest, such as
libraries, bookstores, arts centers and cafés.
Copies of Eubanks' book will be available for purchase and signing
at the meeting.
The Friends of the Chatham Community Library is an association of
more than 800 who share a love of books and promotion of the full

The Chatham Community Library is at 197 NC Highway North in
Pittsboro on the campus of Central Carolina Community College. More
